Ceiling Fans

A fan that moves air quietly and doesn't wobble, on a ceiling box that can actually take the weight.

What you get

A proper fan box installed

Ordinary ceiling boxes are made to hold a light, not a spinning fan. I install a braced box built for the job.

Blades balanced

Assembled and balanced so it runs quietly with no wobble.

Wired and tested

Fan, light, and remote all connected and tested before I leave.

Why fans wobble

Almost always one of three things: the ceiling box isn't made to hold a fan, the blades aren't balanced, or the pole it hangs from is the wrong length for the ceiling.

A normal ceiling box is designed to hold a light fixture - a few pounds, sitting still. A fan is heavier and it vibrates constantly. If nobody swapped the box, the fan is hanging on something that was never meant to take it.

If the box up there isn't right, I replace it. If it already is and it's solid, I'll tell you that and leave it alone.

Sloped and high ceilings

Sloped and vaulted ceilings need a mount built for the angle, and usually a longer pole so the blades hang level and clear of the slope.

Height matters more than people expect. Too close to the ceiling and the fan barely moves any air, no matter how good it is.

Not sure what will work? Wait until I've been out to quote. I'll tell you what your ceiling will take before you buy.

Common questions

I already bought the fan. Will you install it?

Yes. I'll unbox it, assemble it, and tell you honestly if it's the wrong fan for the room before I hang it.

There's no wiring where I want the fan.

Then it needs a new line run to it, which is a different quote. I'll tell you what's involved once I've seen the space.

Can I switch the fan and the light separately?

Usually, yes. It depends on how many wires are already in the wall. I'll check before quoting.

What about the remote?

I install the receiver and test everything before I leave.

Will it be quiet?

If the box is right and the blades are balanced, yes. If the fan itself is a poor one, I'll tell you.

Why most people dread hiring an electrician

Everyone has a story about a contractor. Here's what usually goes wrong, and what I do instead.

What usually happensWhat I do

They show up late (or not at all).

I show up on time.

They buy cheap materials.

I buy better materials than the job calls for.

They cut corners.

I think things through.

They leave a mess.

I clean up after myself.

They might be underinsured or unlicensed.

I carry proper insurance and licensing.

They may have a criminal history.

I'm background checked with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

They charge by the hour, so you don't know what you'll actually pay.

I quote a flat price, and I stick to it.

They send whoever's available - often an apprentice.

I do every job myself.

They sell you as much as they can, even if you don't need it.

I want to earn your business for the long-term.

I take pride in doing it right, the first time.
