The wiring your hot tub needs, done so the only thing you think about is getting in it.

What you get
A shut-off sized to your tub
A weatherproof safety switch near the tub, sized to your exact model rather than a guess.
Weatherproof wiring to the tub
Flexible outdoor-rated wiring that handles wet weather and Colorado temperature swings.
Bonding done properly
This is the part that gets skipped, and it's the part that matters most. More on it below.

What bonding is, in plain terms
Bonding means connecting all the metal around the water - the tub, the pump, the frame, the rails - together with a wire, so everything is at the same electrical level.
Why that matters: if two metal things near water sit at different electrical levels, a person standing between them can become the path between them. Bonding removes the difference, so there's nothing to travel through you.
It's the thing I most often find missing on tubs someone else wired. It's also the thing you can't see once the deck goes back down, which is probably why it gets skipped.
Before you buy the tub
Check the label on the tub, not the brochure. Hot tubs vary a lot in how much power they need, and the wiring has to match the tub.
Book a quote before the tub arrives if you can. I'll come out, look at your panel and the run to the tub, and give you a flat price. If the tub is already sitting there, that's fine too - I can wire one after it's in place.
Pools too
Pump circuits and shut-offs, equipment panels, heater circuits, salt system circuits, pool light wiring, weatherproof outlets for the pool area, and bonding for the whole setup. Same approach - sized to your actual equipment, bonded properly, permitted.
Common questions
Do I need a permit?
That's up to your town and I check for your address. Where one is needed I pull it, pay the fee, and meet the inspector. It's in the price.
How far can the tub be from the panel?
Further than you'd think. Distance costs wire, not difficulty.
My tub is already in and I think the wiring is wrong.
I'll come look. Missing bonding and undersized wire are the two things I find most. I'll show you what's there and quote the fix.
Can you do the wiring before the tub arrives?
Usually yes, if I have the model details. Then it's a short second visit to make the final connection.
Where does the shut-off go?
Somewhere you can reach it and see it from the tub, with clearances that vary by town. I check what applies at your address and put it in the right spot.
Why most people dread hiring an electrician
Everyone has a story about a contractor. Here's what usually goes wrong, and what I do instead.
They show up late (or not at all).
I show up on time.
They buy cheap materials.
I buy better materials than the job calls for.
They cut corners.
I think things through.
They leave a mess.
I clean up after myself.
They might be underinsured or unlicensed.
I carry proper insurance and licensing.
They may have a criminal history.
I'm background checked with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
They charge by the hour, so you don't know what you'll actually pay.
I quote a flat price, and I stick to it.
They send whoever's available - often an apprentice.
I do every job myself.
They sell you as much as they can, even if you don't need it.
I want to earn your business for the long-term.
I take pride in doing it right, the first time.
