What you get
The right type for the room
Safety outlets near water, weatherproof ones outside, higher-capacity ones on kitchen counters. The outlet matches where it goes.
Connected properly
Wires secured under screws and tightened to spec - not pushed into the quick-release holes on the back that work loose over time.
Tested before I leave
Every outlet and switch checked, including the safety trip test on the ones near water.
What I install
Outlets
- Standard outlets, anywhere you need one
- Safety outlets for bathrooms, kitchens, garages and outside - the ones with test and reset buttons that cut power if something goes wrong
- Outlets with USB built in
- Weatherproof outdoor outlets with covers you can use in the rain
- Floor outlets
- Big outlets for a dryer, an electric range, a welder or a car charger
Switches
- Standard switches
- Switches that control one light from two or three places
- Dimmers and fan speed controls
- Timers and sensors that switch on when you walk in
- Smart switches
Things I find and will tell you about
- Outlets wired backwards
- Outlets with no ground connection
- Old two-prong outlets swapped for three-prong ones - looks fixed, isn't
- Two wires jammed under one screw
- Missing safety outlets in bathrooms, kitchens, garages and outside
If I'm already in the wall, I'll show you what I found. Whether you fix it is up to you.
Adding an outlet where there isn't one
That means running new wire, and most of the cost is in the run - how far it goes and how much of the wall is open.
An outlet on the other side of an existing wall is quick. One in a finished basement at the far end of the house is a different number. I'll look before quoting either.
Common questions
Can you just swap an outlet?
Yes, and it's quick and cheap. If I find something behind it that shouldn't be there, I'll tell you.
My old outlets only have two holes and no ground. What are my options?
There are a few, and they don't all cost the same. I'll walk you through what's actually possible in your house.
Why does my safety outlet keep tripping?
Either something on that circuit is leaking electricity, or the outlet itself has worn out. Different fixes, so I find out which first.
Can I have USB outlets in the bedrooms?
Yes. Straight swap in most cases.
Can you do a whole room at once?
Yes, and it works out cheaper per outlet than having me back three times.
Why most people dread hiring an electrician
Everyone has a story about a contractor. Here's what usually goes wrong, and what I do instead.
They show up late (or not at all).
I show up on time.
They buy cheap materials.
I buy better materials than the job calls for.
They cut corners.
I think things through.
They leave a mess.
I clean up after myself.
They might be underinsured or unlicensed.
I carry proper insurance and licensing.
They may have a criminal history.
I'm background checked with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
They charge by the hour, so you don't know what you'll actually pay.
I quote a flat price, and I stick to it.
They send whoever's available - often an apprentice.
I do every job myself.
They sell you as much as they can, even if you don't need it.
I want to earn your business for the long-term.
I take pride in doing it right, the first time.
